The Palombaggia area, which gets its name from the local woodpigeon "palumbo," has long been a place for people to get away from the busy, hilly parts of Corsica. Planning Your Trip ✈️ The closest airport is Sud Corse Airport (Aéroport de Figari-Sud-Corse), which is about 25 km (15 miles) from Palombaggia and has flights from France, Italy, and holiday routes in Europe.

Another choice is Bastia-Poretta Airport, which is about 160 km (100 miles) north and is better for year-round trips.


Public bus services to various places are available from June to September.


By Car:

Taking the D859 and D168 from Figari takes about 30 to 40 minutes. The trip along the coast and through the mountains from Bastia or Ajaccio takes two to three hours.
